I have an almost eleven month old who, I usually prepare fresh foods for eg, Pasta, with sauce, veg, Spag Bol, Shepherds pie, Jacket spuds, he also eats things like youghurts, I was just wondering if it is ok to also give him foods from Cans occasionally eg, things like spaghetti hoops, macaroni cheese, beans, pasta shapes.

Honestly, it's not going to 'hurt'. Just watch sodium content, etc...

He'll be fine ;-)

Freshly prepared is always better quality than canned. I would say, it's a matter of what's your preference. Canned foods can be higher in preservatives, sodium, and all of the 'bad' things, where as by freshly preparing, you are getting all of those nutrients that aren't processed out.

But, yes, I once in a while fed my kids canned, such as spaghetti hoops, and they're not too worse for wear...LOL

thanks for your reply that's what I was thinking I prefer to give Jack freshly cooked food but was just thinking maybe on the odd occasion giving him some of the canned foods I mentioned, for tea tonight he has tried macaroni cheese and seemed to love it, but will only get it on the odd occasion.
