Im desperately trying to work out if my daughter (8 months) is having reflux from her formula (Pepticate) or from her rooiboss tea. Anyone had this experience. She wakes at 4am daily with terrible reflux and cramping stomach.

P.S. For those who don't know, Rooibos is also known as red tea or bush tea, it comes from South Africa and while it isn't actually related to any tea plant (it's a member of the legume family) it is very nice. Quite tasty with pear juice too.

Hi Jodi, thank for that. Jagger is my second child and Tae my first had reflux too.
Taes reflux was gone by 3 months. I have just had a telephonic word with my paed (appoitment to folow next week) and he reckons switch to camomile tea in meantime but that babies normally outgrow reflux by 6 months so there must be something else. Jaggi had her first two teeth at 5 months and shows no indication of more coming through yet. But something is definitely making her crampy and sore. I have an appointment next week and hopefully get to the bottom of it. In South Africa (not sure if you are from here) Rooi bos (red bush) is very healing, soothing and most of our babies thrive on it.. Im completely open minded to the possibility that that was the problem but will see how she does tonight.
thanks again moms for all the support

While I would cut out the tea anyway, just as a tip, one way to identify what is causing the problem is to cut one thing out for a while (namely the tea, because you clearly shouldn't cut out the formula) and see if that puts a stop to the problem. Process of elimination. It will come in very handy knowing how to do this one day ;)

Stop giving your 8 month old rooibos tea. I personally love the stuff, but babies don't need any kind of tea.

um...tea at 8 months?

Most likely a reaction to the tea...whatever rooiboss tea is...

I would stop the tea. I have no idea what kind of tea that is, but regardless, she is to young for anything but formula and water....IF the water is even necessary.
