I just found out my husband sexually abused our daughter one time. He then tried to commit suicide from the guilt he felt and that's how I found out. I also found out it had happened to her prior to her coming to live with us. I am her adopted mom and my husband is her biological father. I want hear from moms who have gone through this. I love my daughter and have started her in therapy. I also still love my husband and want him to get the help he needs. Is it crazy to try and want to keep my family together if we all get the help and therapy we need. I have my husband out of the house and he iscstsrtingbyo get help as well. Thanks for any support or advice you have.

Are you sure it was only "one time"? I'm not sure trust could be regained after something like that, either between you and your husband or with your daughter and him. Her safety has to be #1 priority. If you want to try and work on it, then that's your call (I would want to cut his winkie off and never let him touch me or my daughter again ever, but that's me). Definitely need therapy to continue for a long time. This is not something that would just go away after a few months.

Did he go to jail for what he did? True, you can't just fall out of love with someone, but you should love that child, and her safety should come first.

Thanks I totally understand what you are saying and as far as everyone has said my daughter my husband the social worker etc it was one time but agreed more therapy has to happen. I know anger will come at some point I am mostly sad right now and raw and for dome u don't just fell out of love the next day. I am just taking it one day at a time right now that's all I can do and taking care of my daughter first and foremost.
