My four year old speaks well but she still has trouble with certain sounds especially "th". If I show her how to do it she can so am I ok waiting a little more before looking into speech therapy? Probably overkill right?

At her age, mispronouncing sounds such as "th" is common, I wouldn't be overly concerned. My 8 year old still slips up with this one sometimes, and speech therapy has never been recommended, just practice.

And just for the benefit of Carlito.....she doesn't get teased about it. Children aren't always cruel, they are kinder than we sometimes give them credit for.

Thanks! In the meantime I googled this & found some info & it is common to mispronounce "th" & other sounds at this age. But my girl complained to me that people don't understand her so I am going to practice with her and keep an eye on this. I think I will ask her preschool teacher as well. Thanks for the advice and concern!

Take her to a speech therapists or read about it and work with her on it, if you know why she is doing it then that's half the battle won. Be, patient with her she is only five but when she is of school age you want her to be over it if possible because children can be cruel.
