Freaking out when dropping at dayhome

We recently moved back into the city and hence my son started at a new dayhome. This is his 5th day there today and the past 3 days in the morning he has complained about going there. This morning he freaked out so bad he was screaming, and when I went to unzip his jacket he hit my hands and began kicking when I tried to get his boots off. I ask why he doesn't want to go to the dayhome and he just replies, "cause I want to go home"
I am at my wits end. He has never ever been like this before and has been in dayhomes since 6 months old. He is almost 3 now.
The provider is an amazing woman, level 3 in childcare plus tons of great references. Also this is through an agency. Once we are gone he is fine and picking up it's hard to get him to leave. Please, I am looking for honest opinions on what to do because I don't know how to deal with this.
Thanks

I think you just need to give it some time. It seems like he has had some pretty drastic changes in his life and 5 days at a new daycare is still brand new. Its just like if you or I started a new job. it takes awhile to be comfortable with everything. my son went through the same thing when he started school. Here is what I did. I went to the dollar store and I bought a cheap sticker album. I bought a ton of different sticker packages and I cut out the stickers so they were individual ones. I then filled the album with the stickers (keeping the backs on) and I called it "The No Crying Sticker Book." When I dropped him off every morning he could pick out one sticker for each hand but "no crying". He was so excited to do this that he forgot about me leaving. I changed the stickers out every few days and added more/took away some so there was always new ones for him to pick from. He used it for about a month and by that time he was fine. He just wants to be with you and even though he has a great day and is fine when you get there he has no concept of time and has not gotten used to his new digs. He will be okay soon...good luck.

As already mentioned Sherry, once we leave everything is fine. He freaks out when we leave, is fine after 5 - 10 minutes. Has a great day and then we have a hard time trying to get him to leave.
He has never had this problem before in his other 3 dayhomes so I am looking for ways to make the drop-off easier rather than switching his routine again in such a short time-frame.
