My baby is 6 months old and has been co-sleeping with me and my partner at night since birth. She nurses to sleep and nurses frequently, nutritively and comfort sucking. I would like to transition her to sleeping independently as she seems unsettled in the early hours of the morning and can't get back to sleep despite having me there next to her and being able to suckle at my breast. I bounce her to sleep in a hammock during the day and have to continually bounce it throughout her naps, i started to this gradually wean her off sleeping with my nipple. I am not sure if she would sleep better if i gave her the opportunity to learn how to put herself to sleep as I haven't really done that because she get very distressed very quickly. Your help/advice and experiences would be greatly appreciated, i don't want to make her cry but also understand there will be some protest as i am changing how things are done.
