i just recently got married. Me and my 2 children are on section 8 and in order to add my husband and his 3 girls to my section 8 i had to turn in a ton of paper work to qualify them. Two of his girls don't have his last name they have their mother's. one of them does have his last name. We have no paper work showing he has any custody and their mother lives in arizona which when we ask for anything in writing from her saying he has custody of them she refuses and doesnt care to help. I'm told by section 8 only my husband is allowed to live with me and they aren't since he doesn't have custody of them. He was told by legal aide that he has to go to arizona to change any of this instead of just filing here in montana! I'm frustrated and want to live as a whole family and have no idea how to make this work! We both work and don't have enough money in income to be off section 8 having 5 children. Not sure what to do hoping someone has gone through something like this to give me some options on how to deal with this as soon as i can! The Social worker that he delt with before bringing his girls up here to montana informed him that their mother was not to have them in her custody. She is already lost custody of her son which we are in the process of getting also. He unfortunately can't remember the social workers name. stressed and disappointed the way things are starting and want some better outlook for our newly married life!

thanks for your input! i'm hoping we can get this done as soon as possible. i'm worried we won't be able to afford to live anywhere cuz of our incomes. definately not a time to stress about a place to live for 7 people! :(

Unfortunately the only option is to go through all the legal paperwork channels. Section 8 is very big on having all the proper paperwork and if he doesn't have any legal documentation stating he has custody.... they won't budge.

Good luck getting it all!
