I'm a first time PTA President. Any ideas on fun and successful fundraisers or school events? I'm all for the old fashion cookie dough, popcorn fundraiser. But our school needs something different and exciting. Something that will motivate the kids to sell and pull the parents in to participate. Any suggests or ideas would be helpful.

Chance Encounter Outdoors is an apparel company that only sells its products through fundraisers to schools and churches. The products are outdoor themed and are items that most people would buy anyway, so sales are easy. Email at chanceencounteroutdoorsllc@gmail.com

No startup cost, sales materials are free, orders are organized, and profit margins are up to 45%!

Fundraisers don't have to be about selling.
Our school does a couple of different fundraisers during the year.
We have an annual art exhibition. The art teacher chooses items that the students have made and charges for entry (In Australia a gold coin donation is usual and that's either $1 or $2). The art room is open from 3-6pm (after school) and friends and family are invited to have a look. The P&C (PTA) then run stalls like a mystery jar stall, cake stall and other stalls that parents would like to set up.
We also have disco's. The students are charged $5 entry and they have a DJ and food and drinks for sale. You can also have a theme like Fluro disco and sell Glow sticks etc.
There are also the Father's Day and Mother's Day stalls. Each student is asked to donate to the stalls (1 item per student) and they get their name marked off a list. Every item is $2 and children that have donated get 1st choice. It is run during the day and the parent volunteers go class by class to let the kids choose so it's not a mad rush.

Just a few ideas that don't involve selling as not everyone likes to sell things.
