Much better, but my kids are older, my last severe depression was in 2009 ( and that was really a dark time) but I do struggle with seasonal depression and I have some mild chronic anxiety. Usually I can control my worry but sometimes at night, when I am trying to sleep, I cannot get my mind to stop racing and it just goes and goes, and then my heart starts to race and I can't sleep. I do have some anti-anxiety medication for once and a while but there is a history of addiction in my family so I really try not to take it. You may find you doctor want to try a different medication, so be open to that. I personally had very good luck with Zoloft but my sisters did not, they both took prozac instead. So sometimes it takes some fine tuning to get it right. I do think the intrusive thoughts may inspire you personal doctor to direct to a psychiatrist for medication management. Psychiatrists are usually very up to date on new medications and may have a better knowledge base than your personal doc. Good Luck, keep us posted. I hope you sleeping well!

Good luck, when you talk to your doctor try to be a descriptive as you can so he/she can really get a sense of how to best treat you. Maybe you need an every day medication, and possibly an anti-anxiety medication like xanax to take just when you need it to relive the severe anxiety. If your doc does decide to put you back on Zoloft, and the 50mg made you feel drowsy, or dizzy ask your do to start you on 12.5mg for a few days, then 25mg for a few more days and then up to 50mg. That may ease the side effects but still get the med into your system.

OK so not just at night but during your pre-menstrual time. Zoloft is a pretty good anti-depressant but for anxiety you make due better on a newer formula like cymbalta? Have you discussed the intrusive thoughts with your doctor? Do they come all day, just at quiet times, when you are alone or when you are in a group. If you do start a new medication you may need to ride it out for 4 weeks to let and side effects fade and the med to really work. What side effects did you experience with Zoloft? Have you tried any sort of therapy or relaxation techniques to help with the anxiety and to learn to control the intrusive thoughts. Exercise seems to help my anxious times. I have struggled more with depression that anxiety, but when I am stressed I tend to ruminate (like i get stuck thinking certain thought over and over and over). Here is a link to some tips to help you stop the worrying. I don't think is a replacement for treatment but may prove helpful .

Are you getting any treatment for your intrusive thoughts and anxiety? When you say pms, to you mean P.M.S.? or evenings?
