getting comfortable with my daughter sleeping in crib

my daughter is 8 months old,and im terrified of her sleeping in her crib at night.when i was younger one of the foster kids that lived with us died of crib death..sids, and everytime i put her in the crib it terrifies me,i know the risks of her sleeping with me but i feel like if shes next to me i can prevent it.but i know its not healthy for her and i need to face the facts that she needs to sleep in her crib at night,please give me any advice or tips to help me get more comfortable with it.

There is nothing wrong w safe bed sharing. No child 'needs' to sleep in a crib (absolutely nothing wrong w/ a child sleeping in a crib either though). The few months of his life (from 6-14 months old) that my son did sleep in a crib... it was in my room about a foot away from my bed.

I would recommend counseling if you are having extreme anxiety... because that anxiety can build into other areas of parenting and you do not want your fears to hinder your child's growth and development.

Are you able to have it next to your bed to start off with? That way you can gradually move her to her own room.
