Getting my son off his bottle

He is actually ready to be off the bottle now. Can he drink from a sippy cup? If he can start by giving all liquids for the day in the sippy. His intake will go down during this transition but that is ok....He will be fine. Also after the age of 12 months milk becomes less important and food becomes more of where he is getting his nutrition from. Right now he should be drinking only about 12 ounces of milk daily. More then that then he may not be getting enough food as he may be filling up on the milk. Once he seems to be doing pretty good with the sippy cup during the day cut out the one before bed. The bottles in the middle of the night are not needed and are more of a habit. My suggestion would be to once he has gotten the daytime sippy good throw out all the bottles. You may have an adjustment period where he has to learn how to self soothe but he will figure it out if you give him time. Night time feedings and middle of the night feedings are also not healthy. 1. The milk left on his teeth as he sleeps cause teeth to rot and decay. 2. He is filling up on liquids and not getting the right amount of nutrition he needs for proper growth and brain development.
