My daughter's paediatrician said I needed to stop breastfeeding my 19th month old daughter. He also said that she is not to drink tea, diluted juice or cow's milk. Also she's never been on formula. She refuses to drink Nido or Parmalat first growth milk. What else can I try? Please help

I would tell him to shove it (unless there is an actual medical reason for his recommendation) and continue giving her breastmilk. breast is bet in comparison to other nutritional resources in drink form. I would make sure she is eating healthy food in addition to breastmilk and call it good but that's just what I would do.

Perhaps you could get a second opinion. Also a nutritionist may be able to help make a food plan for her :) incorporating a breast feeding plan and diet so that she is getting optimal nutrition doing both.

She is getting nutrition from your breastmilk. Like Jodi said, you can give her foods that have iron. Again, no need to stop breastfeeding if you don't want

How often is she breastfeeding? You also need to make sure she has foods high in iron. Leafy greens are good for this. You should also make sure some of her protein is red meat (for iron).

She eats cereal and yoghurt for breakfast. Protein with starch for lunch and protein with veg for dinner. She snacks on fresh fruit

If she was eating healthy food AND breastfeeding, she would be just fine. What solid foods is she eating?

My daughter is overweight. She weighs 18.5kg and the paediatrician said she's not getting the proper nutrition from breastmilk anymore. Plus her iron is low and the iron supplement make her vomit

You don't need to wean your daughter if you don't want to. Breastfeeding is still good for her.

Why does the doctor say to take her off the breast? Why no cow's milk? Are their medical reasons for all this, or is this just his opinion?
