i've been on the depo needle for a 9 months now. the third needle is coming to an end. when it comes to an end i start to bleed flat out, like non stop. i had unprotected sex twice. and now i'm not bleeding or anything. what are the chances that i could be pregnant???

Bascially it depends on your body...With mine i was on the depo for 10 years and about 3mths of getting off i was pregnant and i wasnt trying. From being on the depo so long it was taking calcium from my bones so i had to get off.

Megan if i were you i would stop taking it NOW, it seems that everyone i talk to has had problems getting pregnant after coming off the shot and if you fall pregnant right away at least you will have kids close in age lol, but if it takes a really long time maybe it is best to stop now. I know i was told the longer you are on it the harder it can be so that last shot could effect that as well. I agree with Bianca it is very very bad and i NEVER would of taken it either if i knew that it can take that long to get pregnant after .... i hope things go well for you and that you dont have to wait a real long time to get the baby you desire!
Let's just say.... I wanted (and tried for) about a 4.5 year gap between my twins and my 3rd child. There is a 6.25 year age difference. It would've been close to the 4.5 year gap if I hadn't lost the first pregnancy. Then I lost a second one almost exactly a year after losing the first... both early first trimester losses.
I was off of depo and on the pill for about 6 months before going completely off of birth control. Didn't have any type of period until about 2 weeks after stopping the pill. I stopped the depo around Oct 2004 and my son was born March 27, 2008.

Im still getting my period but like what Cheryl said its not a "normal" period. Im thinking about not having my next needle my son is 10 months old so he will be nearly two when the baby is born if Im lucky enough to fall pregnant soon after but if it takes until the end of the year he will me 2 and a bit, so I think Ill be happy with that. Hopefully it doesnt take too much longer than that. Thankyou everyone for your help its much appreciated!!

I was on the depo for almost 5 years, never missed a shot and I got pregnant before i even was due for another shot. Im also aware that most women dont get their periods while on depo but I never stopped getting mine although it was definately not what I would consider a "normal" period.

It seems like the common thread that it took years to fall pregnant again. I would never have gone on it with knowing this information. I hope that it doesnt take me that long to get pregnant. I really want my kids close together in age!!

i was on the shot for not quite a year and it took me almost excatly 2 years from the day my last shot ran out until i conceived. I will NEVER go on the shot again, i was not told it will take that long and i did not know it would screw up my system like it did. Hope you have better luck than i did cause it turely was a painful 2 years!!!

I was on depo for 2 years and missed my appointed and never made anohter one I literally got pregnant that following month. Me and my boyfriend wasn't planning on having any children but surprise. We definitely are glad we had our daughter. But the weird thing was I never had a period so I never knew I was pregnant till I was about 9 weeks and my boyfriend is the one that told me to go take the test because my boos were getting a little big! How odd was that! LOL

We were not trying to get pregnant but I stopped taking Depo in Feb. of 04 and became pregnant in Oct. of 04. I heard it can take between 1-2 yrs for your body to get back in normal routine after being on the shot depending on how long you were on Depo.
