Giving 3 month old water.

Hi people, I'm wondering if you have given your 3 month old cool boiled water? Or if you don't think you should, why? All answers appreciated. Just looking for others views on it. Thank you.

Your 3 month old does not need water, and it can, in fact, be dangerous (look up water intoxication in infants). Your baby gets enough water in breastmilk or formula to keep hydrated. As the previous poster stated, not until 6 months, but even then it isn't totally necessary and will depend on the circumstances.

Hii Tara,

generally it's not a good idea to give your baby water until he's about 6 months old. Still my mother in law used to give 2-3 spoons f water to my son during summer season.

We dont give water cos water can interfere with his body's ability to absorb the nutrients in breast milk . It can also cause his tummy to feel full, which will reduce his desire to feed.
