Giving an infant a taste of ice cream

theres a way to talk back nicely to those that love your children also. overreacting to a taste, unless they are allergic is not conducive to "taking a village" to raise your child, especially if you need help or want support. so getting livid, is a little melodramatic unless they are allergic and it can kill them.

Both my kids had chocolate ice cream as their first big people foods between 4 and 6 months. They never had any problem with it.
That being said, some kids may have a problem digesting dairy at that point. The constipation should resolve fairly quickly, but I would talk to that person about not giving baby anything without your permission.

Oh man, I would be livid. Do you know how much they gave him? I would think a little spoonful wouldn't do anything like that. But, several bites, possibly. I know there were a couple of foods that messed my baby's digestion like that; aka, mashed potatoes. I would make it VERY clear to whomever did it that you forbid anything of that sort until when you introduce solids. If they don't listen, they don't have to see/spend time with baby. If they can't play by momma's rules, they don't get to play at all. period.

Dairy foods do contribute to constipation and the general advice regarding cow's milk is that it shouldn't be introduced until a child is a year old. If your baby only had a taste, I wouldn't worry too much, but neither would I be happy with the person who did that.
