My daughter is 20 months and would like to start the process of her giving up her baby milk she drinks 9floz before she goes to sleep and wakes up once or twice in the night for about 7floz then when she wakes in the morning she wants another 2floz (cow & gate 1-2years). She doesn't have milk for her day nap she has water. How do i get her to just have a small bottle of milk before bed and drink water through the night please help a mummy in need?

We didn't say off the milk entirely, just not in a bottle, Marie. And nothing was mentioned about nappies...you wait until she shows signs of being ready to potty train for that ;-)

And, she'll continue to scream for milk if you continue to give in to her. It will be tough, but you have to stay strong at night, tell her every time that she will not have milk after bedtime, mummy will bring water if she's thirsty.

The cow and gate milk she is on is for ages 1-2 years and she only has it at night. please Don't bash me i am a first time mum. She eats very well during the day and drinks well. I was following the cow and gate website on what give her at what stage. Feel very deflated and like I'm a bad mum when ppl say she should be off the baby milk and out of nappys by now. My daughter is very intelligent and proud of her. Thank you for the comments. I'm trying to give her water at night but she just spits it out and screams all night.

Wow. I wouldn't have encouraged night feeds after 1 year, for sure. You need to wean her off the bottle. Period. She's almost 2. She needs, as Evelyn said, 3 servings of dairy daily, NO midnight feeds. If she wakes in the night, water. Water before bed. Water for most of her intake, other than her 3 dairy servings a day.

She should have been weaned at age one from night time bottles and worked on that. she needs off the bottles period. She should be getting her milk during the day and at this age she only needs 3 servings of milk/dairy. I would start offering the water at bedtime.
