Glow Worm

I'm just wondering if anybody else has a Glow Worm for their child and what they think of it.

My 13-month old, who normally sleeps like a champ and settles himself beautifully, is going through a really bad "clingy" phase. When I try to put him in his crib...well, envision trying to put a cat in a bathtub, and you get a general idea of what I'm dealing with, here.

I saw a Glow Worm today at the store, and am pondering getting him one, thinking it might help him comfort himself a little, or at the very least, distract him somewhat from his separation anxiety just due to the sheer novelty of it.

Has anybody else bought one of these for their young toddler? Was it good for bedtime, or did it overstimulate them?

i highly recommend the glow worm!!! i got my son (now 2 1/2 yrs old) one at about 5 months and he loved it!! even now he can't go to bed without it in his bed, he has to take it in the car with him as well. myself and my sister had one as kids too, so it is deffinetly something to get for your child.

My daughter has one but she's not that interested in it. She's 12 1/2 months and she sleeps on her own, she doesn't have a favourite bear yet. My son was the same it wasn't until he turned 2 that he decided he couldn't go to bed with out his Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy. Now he has a whole collection he tucks in with him

my son has a glow worm but he was never interested the best thing i got was a night light that projected on to his ceiling my son is now 2 and has been sleeping through for almost a year thanks to this night light.

My son had one and didn't care about it. When he wanted his dad and I, he only wanted us. No glow worm would replace us. We solved the problem by letting him sleep with us. Hah! It worked. He got his fix and eventually started sleeping in his own bed again.

My kids don't have a glow worm but my son(now 4) has a small collection of animals and blankets that must be in the bed and he knows where they all came from. Just find something he is snuggly with.

You can try it! Or if he has a favorite toy already, you might want to try that first! When my child used to get that way, I started giving him a warm bath before bed to help relax him. I also bought a lullaby cd that I would put on which seemed to help.

We find it is no different then any other toy. They would play with it but never any more or less then any other toy. When we got rid of it they never even noticed.

My daughter had one and it was comforting and entertaining in a peaceful way. It helped her to sleep.

We have had a GLO WORM for my little boy ( he's now 17 months ) since he was born, and to be honest he could give or take it.!! I'm a bit like Dana, in that the face is hard, and I think the lil ones prefer to snuggle with something a bit softer!!

My 3 year-old loves hers! We forgot to send her favorite toy with her when she went camping with my parents (she was 1 1/2), so on the way to the campground my mom bought her a glow worm and my daughter took right to it.

My 19 month-old, however, could care less about it. She plays with it during the day, but at night she just doesn't care.

I think it's always worth a try though! :) Good luck!

My son has a stuffed puppy and most recently a blue fuzzy teddy bear. Let him pick his comfort object if you can. that way, you are not wasting money on toys he will not enjoy

My son has a glow worm and he loved it as a baby - he also has a "My Pal Scout" - a green and white dog by Leap Frog - he loves him! You customize him to your child's name and it plays music and has little lights - he doesn't go to bed without him! Good luck!

Roxanne got one as a baby but she's never shown an interest in it. I don't like it because the face is hard plastic and it's not comfortable to snuggle with.

Yes! Buy one! My kids love their Glow Worm. My boys share a room and they usually giggle and light it up for about 10 minutes before going to sleep.

He has a Pooh bear, which he finds comforting (when I went in last night to check on him, he was all curled up on his side with his arm wrapped around the bear -- it was freaking cute!) I guess I'm just thinking that maybe the novelty of the Glow Worm will prove diverting enough to help him a bit with his anxiety.

Hell, at this point, I'd hire Enya herself to come in and sing to him if it would get him calmed down.

We have a glow worm, but she's not really into it. She does have an Elmo and Teddy Bear that she must have at night, they're her comfort objects. Does Sam have anything you think he might find comforting that he has already? I don't think the glow worm would be too distracting, but who knows if he'll warm up to it at all? But hell, it's worth a shot. Good luck!
