My sister is bugging me about making sure I have godparents for my children if something were to happen to my husband and I know it's important but I just never got to it. I guess I don't like to think about that something bad happening but I guess I have to be realistic Does everyone know the steps to getting this Done? Thanks

When I was a child, my parents set up something that gave my dad's sister guardianship of us in case my parents died.

now days choosing people to be god parents is more a thing of respect and to do with the christening of a child. the child doesnt often got to its 'god parents' if anything should happens to its birth parents. i havnt thought about it much, but my cousin went to a lawyer and ellected that her children go to her sister if anything should happen.

I'm not sure if naming people god parents actually makes them legal guardians in the event that something should happen to both parents. Typically, I think you make up a will and name the person who will become responsible for any minor children if something should happen. You would just need to talk to a lawyer.
