So I invited a guy that I havent had much time since ive started dating out on a road trip with me. The trip is 1 hour away from the city i live in. Id be leaving my 5 year old and 10 month old with my mother to go. I was wondering if I should just keep it to a day trip or make it over night. I wanted to stay over night so that i could say I had a good refreshing get away but I dont want him to expect anything other than just spending time with me... Not to sure how to handle this situation. N if i couldnt leave the kids with my mom is it wrong if i just bring em along? UGH! I HATE DATING!

Sarah, I agree with kids meeting someone unless their with you long term but in my situation, they met him before I did. He runs a free training camp in a low in-come community and my sister goes there to train and he works with my cousins... they are partners in business. When he met my daughter it was while she was in childcare at the gym with my sister. Thats pretty much the only reason Id bring them with me.

I agree with what Chet said. I would also say that if your mom can't watch the kids then I would have him along. If this is someone you have just started dating you don't want to introduce him to your kids until you know this is going to be a permanent relationship. Your kids don't need to see guys coming and going from their lives....that creates issues for them as they become teens.

If it's only an hour away and you don't want him to "expect anything" I would either make it a day trip or tell him straight out not to expect anything - it's an overnight trip because you need a get-a-away not because you're looking to take the relationship to the next level. The thing is, an hour's drive is not a reason to stay over... so if you do invite him to come along and stay over it could send a message you don't want to send.
