Hi all! :) I am a 40 yr old mummy living in the US but originally from the UK. I have a wonderful daughter of 7yrs who just started 2nd grade and a very supportive loving husband. I love them both dearly. However I started back at college here in the US two years ago and slowly but very proudly gained 5 A grades in various subjects and aquired the study bug! but I have always had the burning desire to continue my education and graduate in the UK. So, the dilemma is...my flight is already booked and I leave the US next week to enroll in college for a one year condensed module starting early Sept. I am super excited to be starting this course but am wracked with guilt. I have continually spoken to our daughter for a while now and she knows the plan and knows I will be returning for holidays etc. My husband is very sad but offers help and support with anything Ive needed to make this happen. Yet it is still hard to think about leaving them. Has anyone out there ever done the same , or anyone have any advice / support to give. I would greatly appreciate any positive comments any of you may have ...Im afraid of the negatives but go ahead gently :) Kind Regards

Hi Janice yes I am very homesick have been for years I love it here in the states but theres been something missing in me for a long time so I really want to do this back there and find out if thats what it is. This definitely is not a conventional thing for a parent to do but we are working it out so I can and if it all hits the fan over the next few months i will come back happier with the knowledge that at least I tried.

It does sound sad, Why couldn't you have done it on the net? Must be homesick.
