Going to be a new mom - tips for child care/nannies in Auburn Hills?

I am 11 weeks and moving to Auburn Hills this week. My one main worry is once our baby is born, what type of child care to have for them. I would like to go back to work, or at least that is my plan right now. I don't want our child to go to a large daycare. I would prefer small groups, either at our house or the care providers home. I just don't want to pay an arm and a leg for care. It wouldn't be worth me working if it cost more than our rent used to. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Small group in home day care will be the least expensive, but you are still going to pay 150 or so a week. Maybe a bit more for an infant. That would be full time and many sitters will only take full time kids or consider anything greater than two days, or a certain amount of hours to be full-time. This is an interesting look at state by state average daycare costs.

I made a great salary and we initially had an Au-pair providing care for our two kids, when I had my third (and then fourth) we decided to try for me to stay home. I was missing so much of my kids lives so we made budget and made it work. I am back at work now, and luck to have a job that parallels my kids school schedule.
