I mean it would be so much better if you could bring someone with you who understands both your language and the language that your physician speaks.

I wonder if possibly you are not understanding what your doctor is saying to you.

If you bring someone who speaks both languages fluently, you could speak to your doctor "through" this person. A translator listens to what one person is saying (in the language they speak) and repeats it back to the other person in the language THEY speak.

Do you understand what I am saying to you now? If not, let me know and I will try again!

I would suggest that you bring someone who speaks your native language AND English fluently, to your next doctors appointment. If you have someone who can translate for you it will be much better for your daughter (and you). Set it up ahead of time. Tell the doctors office that you will be bringing someone with you to translate, and may need an extra few minutes for the appointment.

Get a list of questions together and discuss it with your translator before your appointment. Make sure your translator understands exactly what you are trying to ask.

Doctors appointments are always better attended with more than one person! That extra set of ears can only help!
