Good Birthday 1st Cake Ideas??

I posted earlier about the carrot cake w/cream cheese frosting. I read some other post and every grocery store that I know of gives you a little single cake(for baby) when you buy a bigger one for friends & family. That way they can go at it and make a huge mess!

I made cupcakes instead of a cake with Splenda. Splenda has several recipes on their website. You really cannot taste any difference. We had some diabetics at the party, so we set some aside without frosting. I also took a suggestion from a comment on the website to add a little more buttermilk to make them moist. I recommend the same.

Most grocery stores in our area give you a FREE 1st birthday cake with proof of birthday (birth certificate). When my son turned one I got one and had them put whip cream frosting on instead of the usual sugary stuff. He loved it!

really they eat hardly any of it.. most of it is just frosting that they smash around... i just used a store bought cake mix and frosting.. my aunt did for her daughter a store bough cake mix and frosting but it was the reduced sugar cake mix and frosting.. the frosting was gross and slimy and her daughter wasnt that into it but it was less sugar so you could always do that
paula dean made a carrot cake with baby food carrots and a cream cheese frosting, just dont add so much powder sugar to the frosting recipe if you are worried about it

Use angelfood cake, it's a little better than regular. I suggest chocolate frosting though. It shows up best on pics. And looks really cute smeared all over their little faces. Usually they tend to play in it more than eat it.
