Goosebump on the head hospital worthy?

My 15 month old was jumping around and hit his head on an open drawer. It swelled up and has one spot in the middle where the skin came off but no blood coming out. I've put ice on it as much as he will allow me to but I'm wondering if this is hospital worthy? I don't want to make the wrong decision here.

I don't think you need to seek treatment unless he lost consciousness. For the abrasion on his forehead, keep putting dabs on neosporin on it to prevent it from scarring. If he show signs of a concussion seek treatment right away. The most significant symptom is vomiting, even if he dry heaves. As long as he is acting normally, try not to worry.

Awww...poor thing. First kids are very resilient and bumps and falls are a natural part of them growing up and learning how to navigate in their environment. As far as taking him to the hospital, I would monitor him for changes such as you've already mentioned...blood or even further swelling. Does he seem sleepy right after the incident? If so, that could be a sign of a concussion. If you don't notice anything abnormal in his behavior, then I'd say just to keep applying ice as much as he'll allow. Finally, for the greatest peace of mind, call the docs office and speak with a triage nurse just to ask questions. I'm sure he'll be fine and so will you, mom. Keep up the good work and just help that little one continue to navigate his environment as safe and healthy as possible. Best wishes!
