I am raising one of my grandkids who is a good kid, straight A student and I am in the process of adopting him.(he will be 13 in sept.) His brother, on the other hand is the opposite of him. He is being raised by my ex brother in law and my sister. He has gotten kicked out of school twice and sent to alternative school. It's my understanding that he can't go back to the alternative school. He is 14 and has experimented with drugs. I am scared for him, but it's out of my hands. What can I do to help him?

Sounds like he is having a tough time. Do you see him often? Is he close to his brother? As you are not his legal guardian, there are fewer things you can do. Let him know that you will always be there to listen (without judgement) and support him in moving forward. Help him to focus on the positive things that he has achieved and show him you believe that he can have a great future.
