Grandma raising two grandchildren

Hello, I would like to introduce myself. I'm 54, single, work full time and raising two grandchildren. They are 6 & 7, bi-racial. I have had them for about a year and a half. I also have 4 grown kids. It has been a challenge, especially in the beginning. They have been physically and mentally abused, so they have therapy. They also have visitations with both parents who are no longer together. I feel stretched very thin most of the time and have very little time to myself. I didn't ask to be put into this position, but I also didn't want to see them go into foster care. I have felt very out of place in this world because of my age and having young children in my care. It can be lonely. Yet, I love them so much and they have blossomed in more ways than I can ever put down on paper. I have seen them change and evolve and become very happy kids! I would do anything for them. Is there anyone else in my situation?

Starliene, sounds like you are doing a stellar job, my dear! Its always good to hear from the caregivers of kids like yours, and know that those kids are thriving.

I know its tough, and no, I'm not there (my kids are just grown), but I admire you, and send you pats on the back. You are making a difference for those kids, and that's awesome!
