Grandmothers: What name do your grandchildren call you by?

To build on Evelyn's post: my son called my sister "sashite" his word for flashlight. She is a police officer and would often come to my home for meals on duty. He noticed her flashlight among all things and dubbed her "auntie sashite" He is almost 20 and she is/was the first female Sargent on her police force, after being the first female detective, the first female lieutenant, Go Auntie Shasite go!

Oh, on a side note: My granddaughter was being taught to call my son Unkie but it came out Monkey one time. And after that, my daughter would hear her gibber this and that and monkey came out with the words. She wondered if she was calling my son that. We went to eat at a resturant and my daughter needed something from the car so my son went to get it. As soon as he was out the door, both she and I asked my granddaughter where monkey was and she looked right at the door he went out. So from then on it was monkey...the other day she called him Uncle monkey.

I called my dad's parents grandma and grandpa. I called my mom's mother grandma and sometimes "Mom Mom" when the mood hit but had another name I used when the mood hit but can not remember. I wanted a special name to be called and when I tried using the French version of grandmother it never took. My granddaughter was about 2 years old and one day I was there and tried the French version witth her and it did not work so I thought..."Mom Mom". When she heard it she took to it quickly and it has been Mom Mom since. Now her brother is trying so hard to say it and it comes out "Ma Ma". I guess a long time ago I created my own grandmother name.

My great-grandma we always called Grandmother. My mom's mom we called Mamaw (pronounced "ma'am maw"). My dad's mom was Grandma. My husband's mom, to his kids, is Sittu (also Sitto or Situ in Arabic). My husband's kids' mom's mom is Mimi.

I called a grandma-like woman Oma, I had no grandparents. My kids had a range of names for my parents; my son was the first grandchild and so he named my mother "Grandma Brown House". My MIL has been called Mee-Maw by all of the kids. FIL was Grandpa and my father was Grandpa Jim. Sadly Mee-Maw is the only one left...80 tomorrow!
I, like Dove, had better not see any grandkids for at least 5.5 years, hopefully longer. My son will be 25 then and in the military serving after he graduates (God willing)

I'm not a Grandma yet either, my oldest is only 14.5 so do have a while to go.
My kids call my Mum Mormor as that's the Danish name. Mor is Mother in Danish so Mormor is Mother's Mother.
The call my husband's parents Oma and Opa as that's the German names. His family is from Germany a long way back but they have kept up the names over the generations.
My Dad is Poppop and I have no idea why. I know that's what I called his Dad so it was just the normal name for him. His wife is Nanna.

My step-daughter is 24......and I am SO not ready to be a grandma yet!!! But it looks like she's waiting. She's currently planning on heading off to live in Europe for a while. And my son, well, his gf is now on medication for 4 years where she can't have children while she is on it. So yeah, dodging that bullet right now :P
But they all call their grandmothers "nanna". I don't know what I'll prefer to be called.

I'm not a grandma... and PLEASE not for about another decade... ;)
But... my kids call my stepmom Grandma, my mom Grammy, their dad's aunt (raised him) is Granny Pam... but my son has never met her and my girls haven't seen her since they turned 6. Through their stepmom they have even more family... and I know of a 'Grandma Malia'... but don't know if there is anyone else or not.
