I have been having a discussion with my husband about who is allowed at the Hospital when I give birth in 8 weeks time. I am finding it unfair that our eldest children are not allowed in the ward to meet the new arrival (they are 15 and 13) but thier grandparents are. My father we anticipate won't be in the country at the time that leaves the only grandparent in and out is my mother (My husbands parents have both passed away). Although I love my mother she is currently driving me around the bend. I have told Brian fine she can come on the first day but after that she can wait like everyone else until I get home. I also told him he is not allowed to call anyone for the first hour after the birth because I feel that this time is mine and his alone to bond with the new baby. My problem is my mother has already got it in her head that she is being left out of everything and side lined. I just feel that she is in my way and surely I have been a parent for 15 years already I am quiet capable of bringing up another child all be it a Laat Laamtjie (Afrikaan for late lamb which is refered to a child who is born in a marriage with children above the age of 10) What would you do?
