Because the juice is pure sugar and a lot off times the juice you buy in the store has added sugars or high fructose corn syrup in it. As the first poster said, no juice until after an year and then diluted 75 water to 25 juice. A child this young does not need juice at all really and until they get much older only 4 ounces a day. If you give a child too much sugar it might cause some issues later.

juice is not a great idea for a baby. He needs breast milk or formula as his main source of nutrition until his first birthday. During hot days, certainly give him extra water as needed, and you can give him water with any solid foods he eats. While juice does come from fruits, it's still basically all sugar. You'd be much better off offering him the real fruit, or pureed versions of real fruit.
After his first birthday, if you really want to give him juice - try to keep it to 4 oz of juice (or less) per day, and mix it with water. A great starting point is 3 parts water, 1 part juice, or 75% water 25% juice. I think the motts toddler juice might be watered down somewhat already…. but I'm not sure how much.
