I'm 43 yrs old and have had this condition all my life. I had learning difficulties and behavioural problems as a child and have a lot of knowledge to offer other parents of children with this condition.
Stress, diet and sleep are a huge contributing factors to seizures. Basically anti depressants I stay away from as they work opposite. 18 yrs ago my brother committed suicide and its unknown if he had this condition - although he was on anti depressants at the time. Recently my GP put me on Endep for my neck injury and I didn't sleep for 2 weeks.
I'm happy to help anyone who's children have this condition as neurologist know very little.
I personally take 15 mls of fish oil every day, daily exercise, stay away from caffeine, sugar foods, preservatives, stressful situations and rest when my body gets tired.
I have 3 children of my own and I believe based on my own experience that my middle daughter aged 15 yrs has it, she's getting an MRI shortly.
I starting having seizures 18 yrs ago after giving birth to my oldest daughter, and I had a severe seizure after a car accident 3 yrs ago which went for 2.5 hours. Like I mentioned stress and lack of rest/sleep is a major trigger.
Several days ago I had a seizure a woke with with numbness on the left hand side and last night went to hospital as it was presenting stroke like symptoms. This morning I've done a heap of research and thought my knowledge of this condition may be assistance to many people who have this condition.
