Grinding teeth?

My little girl will be one in a week. She is just getting her first top tooth, already has 2 on the bottom. She continually grinds her teeth together, a sound I equate to scraping your nails on a chalkboard. I get the chills every time I hear this noise! Any suggestions on getting her to stop? A pacifier is not an option, we have already weaned her from it.

My four year old grinds her teeth in her sleep. That's why we gave her pacifier back. She uses it at bedtime only.

I feel your pain. I just posted about my 10 month old son doing the same thing and I can't stand it either. I usually distract him from doinh it when he starts but i guess we will have to wait it out. Which sucks lol. Good luck to you.

I think you just have to wait it out. My son is 8 months, with 1 top tooth and 2 bottom teeth. He grinds them, too. I think it is the novelty of it, and he is already starting to do it less often. When I notice him doing it, I call his name or clap my hands or something that distracts him so that he least for a few minutes. Other moms I talked to said that their children grew out of this habit naturally.
