My son is nine years old and is starting to have underarm odor. I have started washing him up with baking soda which I hear helps. My question is does anyone have this situation and can you offer any advice?

I know puberty typically hits boys a little later than girls, but my girls were using deodorant by 9 years old. Chances are pretty good that he's going to start smelling worse pretty soon anyway.... Preteens/teens are STINKY creatures. lol

Odor is usually caused by bacteria in the moist, dark areas of the body like underarms. Sweat gives the bacteria more to feed on, so it causes more odor. And any underarm hair gives more surface area for the bacteria to grow, which is why pits are a great playground for them. Just try to keep his pits clean and dry, and he should be fine.
