Moms! What's the polite way to tell your in-laws to not go through the closets and other personal stuff around the house? My guests are old and educated but they forget they are staying as guests. These people don't take no for an answer and admit to their faults. I can't lock up every room lol but in need of politically correct statements to let them know they are sneak peaking.

Is there anything in those other closets that you're really embarrassed about? If not, what's the harm? Yes, they should respect your wishes in your house. Next time, before you invite them, they must agree to respect your rules and not go through your belongings. If they stay with you, and you catch them snooping, tell them that they have broken their promise and then ask them politely to leave your house. They can get a hotel room or go home, and you shouldn't feel guilty about it because (even with adults) breaking rules has consequences.

Just ask them to politely not check through your closets and other places in the house. Do they have a guest room they stay in with its own closet?

Yes, I provide them with a fully furnished room. They tend to sneak peak all around in the closets behind my eye.
