Hair Chewing/sucking

Mt 6 yr old has started sucking and/or sucking on her hair. I don't want to cut it but train her to stop the habit. I'm sure it's an unconcious nervous habit. I have thought about putting it up in a bun but also had a suggestion to put hair spray on all her hair so that it will taste bad. Not sure how safe that is, will have to check the hairspray ingredients. I currentlly put the sides up and leave the back down but she is pulling the hair in the back around so that it reaches her mouth.

I used to put my daughter's hair in a pony tail and she used to chew on the end---I had to cut off the end of the pony tail because it was all knotted up. She also chewed the sleeves of her winter jacket. But her sister used to suck her thumb and ended up with protruding teeth and we couldn't afford braces. Good luck!

i dont think hairspray will hurt her in small amounts but probablly not the best idea in the world. Find something that taste really bad like vinegar, thumb, etc and see if that helps
