Hands foot and mouth disease. Advice please!

My 8 month old is in the last stages of HFMD. Her rash and blisters are starting to disappear. I have just started to get the rash and blisters this morning. Can I pass it back to my daughter even though she gave it to me in the first place? When she was sick, before we knew it was HFMD I let her sleep with me and now she refuses to sleep in her own bed! I need sleep to recover but am afraid I'm going to get her sick again!! My husband can't miss work so I'm the primary caregiver during the day and over night! Any advice would be appreciated!

When someone gets HFMD, they develop immunity to the specific virus that caused their infection. However, because HFMD is caused by several different viruses, people can get the disease again. Since you and your child have the same strain of the virus you shouldn't pass it back to her. However, either of you could pass it to your husband. Contagion is most likely in the beginning stages, but you and your daughter could continue to be carriers of the virus for weeks after symptoms have cleared.
