Has anyone ever heard of this problem before?

My baby is 2 months old, and has been oozing out of his belly button for a little over a week now.If you pull his belly down, it looks like another little round lump underneath his belly button. At his 2 month check on Friday the DR said he has a granuloma and put silver nitrate on it. She also took his blood and urine samples as he has been crying a lot more and not acting himself lately. We went back today and found out he has a UTI. She said this is very rare, but not uncommon, however now she thinks the problem with the belly button may be connected to why he would have a UTI. She said it's a rare condition she's never actually seen, and another DR she was speaking with has only seen it once. We have to go have an ultrasound tomorrow, and go see a urologist next week to possibly have a surgery. I'm freaking out. Has anyone heard of this before? The condition is called Persistent Urachus.

Hi,
it is stressful to hear your baby needs surgery. And thankfully you noticed the problem and had it looked at quickly..It seems like the Drs are on top of it :)

From what I understand Patent Urachus surgery has a good outcome and it seems like the problem can be resolved with one surgery.

I am sure he will be fine, don't stress too much(easier to say then to do right?)

Good luck :)
