My son's first grade teacher just got him a one legged stool to help him focus better. He has been very fidgety so she thought this was worth a try. He has three siblings that are on meds for ADHD. Does anyone have any experience good or bad? I'm thinking of asking my other son's 4 th grade teacher to get him one too.

My son in fourth grade has used one, with positive results. He really had a hard time sitting still, and this helped quite a bit. Another thing that helped is when the teacher would allow him to periodically take his work over to the counter, so that he could stand for awhile while doing his work.

It's a stool with one leg that kids sit on at their desks at school. Their wiggly body has to balance to keep from falling on the floor. Supposedly it helps kids to be able to sit for longer periods of time and focus better on their work. My son has has it for a week. He is in 1st grade and is starting to show signs of focus problems. Plus he can't sit still. So the teacher had used one in the past and new the benefits and asked me if I minded her buying one for my son to try. So far so good. He loves the stool.
