i dont have teenagers but my youngest brother is 16 and the same way as your son he steals from our grandma
a few times last year and got away with it ...and all this year has been hell with him with school and such ... now just a few days ago he and his friends were at my grandmothers house and his friend stole 3 packs of smokes from the house ... my grandma called my brother on it and he returned 1 pack but 2 are still not returned .. she gave him the option of returning the rest or the money for then or she is calling the police.... they may not do a damn thing for something like this but at least they will have a record of it for if heaven forbid he starts stealing things bigger he wont just get a slap on the wrist because for my younger brother that has been how it has been is whole life he has never had to own up to a damn thing .... sorry for venting... but yes i would call the police maybe your son will take you seriously ... no one should ever steal .. but to steal from your own mother thats just low... talk to him about why and tell him if it happens again the police will be involved

Well if you've talked to him over and over and he thinks he can get away with it.......maybe you should. You have to think of the consequences to though. This larceny will be on his record and prevent him from getting jobs and other things.
I would tell him, it's either or. And then stick to your guns. If he doesn't think you are going to do it then I would definitely do it.

He needs a wake up call for sure.
