Has anyone had this happen to them?

My sister has just given birth to a boy and has named him a name that is almost identical to my daughter's name. My parents don't seem to think there is anything wrong with that. Am I just being overly sensitive about the situation or is it really weird and akward that she would name him so close to my daughter's name?

Yeah...that's weird. Maybe she thought it would bring them closer together as they get older since you two are not? I don't know. Grasping at straws for a reason :)

Well, she has named the first and second name very closely. My daughter's name is Kamryn Rylee and she has named her son Kacyn Rylan. Now we are not the closest of sisters and only see each other a couple times a year, but I still think it is weird!

I do think it's a little weird and will make for some odd family reunions in the future and quite a bit of confusion I'm guessing. My hubby's cousin actually is thinking about naming her daughter (if she has one) Brooklynne, and our daughter is already named Brooke. So that in itself is weird, but it's completely up to her. If it really bothers you, maybe you could talk to her and see if she'll call him by his middle name or you can come up with cute nicknames for them for when family is around so there isn't as much confusion?
