Victoria - I actually have one kidney myself and 2 uteruses!!... I'm doing fine, have a beautiful daughter of my own - and I pray that your precious baby will be fine as well. I'm in my early 30's and have had no health problems... It is very common for someone with 1 kidney to have only 1 or multiple of other organs.

I am 26 years old and have one kidney. I actually have both of them but only the left one works. I didn't find any of this out until I was 18 years old and had multiple UTI's. From what the doctors say, it looks like my kidney has never worked and that could be responsible for the jaundice I had when I was born. I have my kidney function checked once every 2 years. I am now pregnant with my first, a girl, due in February. We have had Level 2 ultrasounds done once a month to check her kidney function. So far all is ok. I would say, find a specialist now. As your baby gets older, there will be things you can do to help maintain good kidney function. I also know that my doctor's say that my kidney problem is closely connected to my reproductive issues (it took me five years to get pregnant and finally did so through IVF) so you may want to keep any eye on that in the future. Best of luck to you. Have Faith. He is with you and all will be well.

I am 31 years old, have had three boys AND was born with ONE kidney. I have NEVER had any problems. My parents didn't even know until I was 5 or 6.

Good Luck! My prayers are with you!

I close friend of mine has a brother that was born with 1 lung. (The 1 lung is much larger than that of a person with two.) Anyway - as a young baby he got sick, and had more colds than the average child -- however he is almost 30 and expecting a baby of his own. I pray that your baby grows and develops just as wonderfully as my friends brother.

My niece was born with one kidney actually. She is now 15 months old and doing great. She had alot of problems in the beginning because the kindey was failing and she was on dialasis but now they keep an eye on her and she takes alot of medicine. She may need a transplant one day but we just take it day by day. Good luck, I know that is a scary think to be experiencing.

I don't have an answer for you and I know you'd really like one. I will tell you that God works in mysterious ways and he has a plan for us all. Trust in Him and in your doctors. Do some research and be prepared. I think if you do those that, things will work out as they should. I will say a prayer for your baby and your family and I wish you the best of luck!

I looked up some things on the internet. The kidney development are directly related to lung development. Look up Congenital lung defects or Congenital kidney defects. There is some good research out there. God will lead you in the right direction.

I honeslty know nothing in regards to this and a developing child however kidney disease runs in my family and one releif is the human body can work wonderfuly on only one kidney. Keep positive and read as much as you can.

My friend's son was born with one kidney and he is a happy healthy little boy. According to their doctor, this is not as uncommon as you might think.

I am so sorry to hear the news about your baby. I worried the entire time I was pregnant with my son that he would be healthy. I prayed every night. Just trust God, he has his reasons. I feel so bad for you. Believe me that you will be in my prayers! I will pray that things work out for you!

I have no idea how to start this except with my prayers are with you. I encourage you to research this and go and see specialists. Unfortunately that is all I can give you right now but I will look things up too. I am a nurse and know that when you are expecting you expect things to be perfect and then you get this blow. Put this in God's hands and I will help you do a little research.
