Has anyone's child ever had Hand Foot and Mouth Disease? If so, is it normal for her gums to bleed. Dr. says yes but just wanted others experience.

My 18 month old son has it and his mouth bleeds when he eats OR drinks anything. It is horrible. I feel sooo bad for him because he is so hungry.....

yes it is.... my daughter had Hand Foot and Mouth Disease months ago, I didnt know it... Her dad noticed some canker sores on her tongue, thought maybe it was a allergic reaction to something and we were gonna keep an eye on it, not long later I went to brush her and everywhere I touched in my daughters mouth bled, and a lot, I was freaking wondering what was wrong with my baby girl, was it a dental thing or medical.. I didnt know called both and went to both, our doctor told us it was Hand-foot and Mouth Disease..... She had slight fevers with it, refused to eat (I guess he mouth was too sore) and Doc said she could get tiny little blisters on her feet, hands, etc, but she never did, not all do get the same symptoms...... Was not a lot of fun for sure, my daughter go it right after her birthday, was not a great present, she was miserable... hope this helps... not fun! hope your little one gets feeling better soon!

Hers is exactly the same an your daughers. She started with a high fever and I noticed the sore ironically the same morning I took her to the doctor for the fever. She was diagnosed with it but I was told there was nothing to do for it :(

So, we have been dealing with it for about a week now and she is feeling better and the sores on her lips are getting better but her mouth is still bleeding. Thank goodness this is a one time only thing, or at least that is what I was told!? Can you tell me about how long your daughter had it before it was completely gone?

Yes he did. And yes his gums were the most affected. Blisters covered his mouth and I actually had to take a tooth brush and bleed them out everyday to get the pus out....it was terrible.

I think it was about 10 days... so your daughter is probably almost in the clear, I hope... Yep we were told also that there is nothing they can do for it, just let it run its course, but to treat her symptoms, tylenol for the fever and pain....... I feel for u, not a fun thing.. I have heard of it sort of, but was horrified when my daughter got it, specially when I brused her teeth and everywhere just bled, dont brush her teeth while her gums are bleeding and sore, just wipe them with a cloth is what our doctor said or leave them, wont hurt them for a few days....... I do believe it is like chickenpox and once they have had it they dont get it again..... Hope She gets feeling better soon! She is a cutie!

My child has! She had no bleeding of the gums, but I must say that it didn't affect her mouth. She hed blisters on her hand palms and soles of her feet.

Try to get her immune system up cause we struggled, and it went over into Gionotti Grostti Syndrome. Which we struggles with for 9 weeks.

Be strong!!

Natasha

Thank you Natasha. I was told that sometimes it can be hands and feet or mouth or both. Luckily it is just mouth but it is still terrible. I wish I would make it go away!!
