My son had surgery for pyloric stenosis at 5 weeks and seems to be growing like a weed now that he is all better, but I guess he is still a bit underweight for his age. He weighed 12lb at 3months. I am unsure what he weighs now but he has a doc apt on the 20th. I was wondering if anyone else's little one had pyloric stenosis and if so what was your experience with it? Also is it more likely for my 2nd child to have it since my 1st did?

Our first son had it, I'm 38 weeks pregnant with our second son so we'll find out. The doctor that did the surgery told us that pyloric stenosis was most common in first born white male children. Connor had lost 13 oz before his surgery, but after he gained the weight back like crazy. He has always been skinny since the surgery but I don't know if it's because of the pyloric stenosis or if it's genetics. From what the pediatricians and my obgyn has said about pyloric stenosis I doubt our second son will have it, but at least I'll know what to watch for this time and we won't let him lose so much weight before action is taken.

We were worried that our daughter had it because she was throwing up her full-tummy contents for a while. Luckily it turned out to be a bit of acid reflux. We were worried though because both my husband and my brother had it as infants and my brother actually had the surgery. He's now a 6ft2in healthy guy. My mother did have a rough go with him for a while - feeding with sheets and blankets all around her. But my brother obviously bounced back quickly. Your son should be just fine.
