My 14 year old daughter has been sick from Febuary to now still May. At first in February the first 4 weeks she had beeen coughing bad and all the common virus symptoms. We took her to the doctors on the 4th week and they said it was bronchitis we left with an antibiotic. We were on it for a week and after she finsihed the dose she still wasn’t feeling well. March came and we took her back to the doctors and she was diagnosed with pneumonia and was given steroids and were on those for about 2 weeks and given a big dose. After she finished treatment she still wasnt feeling well and her cough was still bad. So a week later we went back to the doctors and they said they couldn’t do anything so we went home. A week or 2 weeks later we went back to the doctors, she had stuffy nose, couldn’t breathe and still the cough. She was then diagnosed with a Sinus infection. She was on antibiotics again and they helped for the most part. Then it was April and the first week she felt fine. The next week it was allergies. The third week she was starting to feel sick again. She had the cough bad again and she had lots of mucus in her throat. She throw up some mucus. We gave her nasal spray and that seamed to help. The next week she was really tired, went to bed early and was still tired in the morning and all day. The following week the tiredness left and she was beginning to feel good again. Then the last week of the month until now she has gotten sick again with another virus. She is stuffy in her nose and that is causing her to have trouble breathing and she has another bad cough. Her cough sounds like a seal and a dog. We are treating her with her nebulizer since she also has asthma and her asthma gets worse when she is sick. Her cough is so bad that she coughs from moving to fast or long and talking to long and gets out of breathe.

On a side note like i said she has asthma but her daily inhalers help. She has allergies but she has medicine that does help.

I’ve tried to searching on line what could be wrong but there are so many illnesses. Should i take her back to the doctors or go see a specialist? Do you know what might be wrong, i hate seeing her like this?

Yep, I'd be seeking a second opinion. Also, make sure your daughter is getting plenty of sleep AND is eating properly. Teens are notorious for taking their electronic devices to bed with them (yes, most teens seem to be allowed to do that....) and sit up half the night chatting to each other. They are also notorious for eating too much crap.

I didn’t think it was i was just telling what i have been doing so you guys could help to find what could be wrong. like i know if you dont live a healthy life like eating well or not sleepying that could be the cause so i was just saying what she does.

I don't think that was an accusation that you are not caring for your child properly; just advice from another mother of teen girls.

My daughter gets plenty of sleep. If she is not at dance she will got to bed at 9:30 or sooner. she wakes up everyday at 6:45 so she gets lots of sleep and if i let her she would sleep more like on the weekends she will sleep to 11. My daughter has her electronics in her room but after i tuck her in she goes right to bed. She also doesn’t eat alot of junk food. Her meal is simple, breakfast chocolate chip waffle or pancake, snack or pretzels or goldfish (at school) , lunch a sandwich with a jukebox and somtimes cookies, at dinner it’s healthy at then she has a very small portion of ice cream after dinner. And also after school snack and anytime she will have lots of fruit and drinks plenty of water.

At first she was sick with broncitis and the same not feeling well for a while. They said she had asthma but they were wrong and went to a specialist to find out she has allergies and some acid reflex problem and now has medicine. She also found out she has really bad anxiety.

What was wrong with your daughter's friend? Couldn't they have the same illness?

We have gone to this pediatriction for years. My daughter friend had the same problem and was sick for a long time and the doctor kept diagnosing her wrong and she ended up at the ER and finally there she got the answer she was looking for. I will look into going to see a pulmonologist as my daughter told me she doesn’t want to go back to our doctor and if she does need to see someone she said she wants to go to a specialist.

At this point she need to really be thoroughly evaluated. If you trust your regular pediatrician then start there, otherwise you may want to consult a second opinion from a pulmonologist. Hope she feels better..
