I need advice asap! I have a child in college and one in 9th grade. My husband says he got this dog for the girls. They don't want the dog and I end up walking her EVERY FREAKIN MORNING! She goes to the bathroom in the house and makes licking sounds for hours at night. My husband rubs her and talks to her all the time and doesn't even know how the girls are doing in school. He comes in from work and wants to know if the dog has eaten today but yet we don't sleep together. I need help before I do something horrible. i don't like animals much at all. I like people. Also he has past childhood issues that have just come out and I think he likes animals more than people. Good Dad when the girls were little by the way.

You should try to talk to your husband about all of this to see if things can get better, instead of just packing up and leaving. Unless you've already made your decision to leave, then you should probably just get on with it instead of dragging it out.

Thanks for the advice. Even though I'm not into animals I made her an appointment to see why she keeps licking. She goes on Friday. No worries I won't hurt the dog. I'll just pack my things and go if I can't stand it anymore😫

It sounds like there are issues between you and your husband that need addressed and dealt with... please don't take it out on the dog.

If your husband is showing the dog more affection than he does to you or his family, then that is a problem with your husband, not the dog. He should not have gotten a dog without consulting you and having a plan for it's care. If the dog is his, or the girls', then let them clean up after it. If the dog is licking, then it may need to be checked out at the vet to find the reason why. If you end up not keeping the dog, I hope you either find it a new home yourself, find a rescue group that will take it, or find a "no-kill" shelter that will take it. The dog should not be put in danger of it's life because someone made a bad decision.
