Have you had experience with prolonged Periods?

I'm 31 with two kids and for the past two months (8 weeks), I've had my period pretty heavy and regular. There have been large blood clots and a LOT of tampons used. I guess I was just wondering if this is anywhere near normal? Has anyone else had this issue? I probably need to go to the doctor but the problem is that it's more of a nuisance than anything else...no cramping or pain. I'm a little worried because of the clotting and because 8 weeks is a long time to bleed.
Any advice would be awesome!

I had problems in my early 20s, and it took a while to diagnose, but it was endometriosis causing it. However, I also experienced severe pain with it.

Have you been to see your doctor? It may be that a D&C could be in order, or that you need your hormones tested.

My daughter has very long periods and very heavy. She will go for 2 - 3 weeks and only get a couple days relief, only for it to start again.

The doctor checked her iron and her thyroid. Both came back good. The doctor said sometimes low iron will cause this and/or an issue with your thyroid. Since both were good for her, as well as, her hemoglobin, we started her on a high progesterone birth control pill (high estrogen can cause more bleeding). Even though, she is not sexually active, at all. So far, it has helped a fair bit. It has only been 2.5 months but she has noticed a big change already and so have I, with my pocket book and how often the garbage needs changing. ;)

The best advice I have, is to go see your doctor and get blood work.
