The late teens and early twenties can be an extremely peer oriented time. At this age, people are often focused on developing a life separate from family, experiencing their first serious relationship with the opposite sex, becoming independent and building strong relationships with friends
Without more detail it's difficult to know if this is just your daughter growing up, or if there are other things going on. I can tell you though, that kids very often take five, ten or even fifteen years to spread their wings and they then turn back toward family once they find their way, establish their independence and settle down into adult lives.
