Please help!!! My 5 year old daughter has been complaining about a stomach ache and a headache. I thought it might have been a bug caught at pre-school, so after 2 days of complaints I took her to the doctor. She was given an antibiotic, pain and fever medicine. However, she is still complaining about the headache and wakes me up at night and it has been the sixth day now. Does anyone know what could be the cause?

Thank you Kristina for the reply. We took her to another doctor just to get a second opinion. He gave her medication and a shot. She seemed to be fine for the day but the symptoms alleviated at night time. We taking her to the hospital today for some tests to be done. You are so right, paranoia has to be paramount when it comes to a child's well-being because we never know how serious the situation is.

I am so sorry on your loss. No words of sympathy can ever replace your little angel; but please do not blame yourself, somethings are inevitable and I'm sure you would have done all in your power to make her well if you knew how serious her illness was. She also knows you adored her. Keep well, I will pray for your family to get through this tough time.

I would bring her back to the Dr. and request they look into the issue more deeply. Five year-olds don't have daily or long term headaches unless there is something wrong. A slew of reasons go through my head - from a common sinus infection (which she would have more symptoms than just a headache, like sinus pressure and she would look stuffed up) to meningitis or even other neurological issues. It is our job to be paranoid and push doctors on these issues. My husband and I have 4 kids - 3 here on earth and one in heaven. Our angel lost her life on October 9th because we didn't want to be paranoid parents... I will regret that mistake for the rest of my life.
