I am 7 months pregnant and I have had heart burn the entire time but the past few weeks have been way worse AND I feel like I'm going to throw up every minute of the day. Is this normal? Especially since I have had no morning sickness at all in the 1 st and 2 nd trimesters ? Tums are not helping at all anymore. What else can I do?

It doesn't help that I have a bacteria in my stomach that causes excess stomach acid on top of being pregnant. I've tested positive and been treated 3 times for h pylori and I have to go again after the baby is born. I think i am going to have to ask for the prescription antacid because it's almost unbearable . The bacteria got so bad I stopped eating the first time and lost a lot of weight. I've told my doc my concerns about it being back and what if I can't eat etc... I just get told that there's nothing they can do until the baby is born and he literally told me to suck it up and force myself to eat. I honestly can't wait till this baby is born!!

I know how it feels,i had bad heart burn during my pregnancy.I got Alucolgel from my doctor. It was ok to take during pregnancy. The taste of it was bad at first but i got used to it.It helped me for a while with heart burn but i remember taking a spoon full every 3 hours cause the heart burn was so bad.I also never had morning sickness.I only had to throw up once at the beginning of the pregnancy and then again when i was 8 months, everytime i took the pregnancy vitamin tablet i would get a gross taste in my mouth and throw up,so the doctor told me i didnt have to take them any more. I hope you can get something that helps.Good luck

If your heartburn is severe, it is unlikely any of the over the counter medicines will actually work. My doctor told me they were mostly fine too, but They did very little for my heartburn. Certainly try them, but if you are still having problems, there are solutions that your doctor can prescribe for you.

I went to the pharmacist and asked what else I could take and he said any of the antacids and stomach relief meds were ok except pepto bismol. I always thought the list of things pregnant women could take was extremely small. Anyway I do plan on asking my doctor first before I try something new. Thanks for the advice. :)

It's normal for some unfortunately! My heartburn was terrible from about 4 months on (I never had morning sickness either). Even a glass of water would give me heartburn. Talk to your doctor about your options - there is some relief, but expect it to be a problem for you for the rest of your pregnancy.
