Hi everyone, I am new to the forums here, from Sydney Australia...Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced this and had a positive result ending in a healthy happy bouncing baby?
Husband and I have been ttc for approximately 12 months now. Chemical pregnancy in October 2012, but wouldn’t have even known except I was a serial tester. This time my short story goes like this: LDMP was 31.12.2012. Regular 28 day cycle. Expected O day was 14.01.2013. AF due 27.01.2013. Got very light spotting day before expected AF... only when wiping, then nothing. Took hpt but negative. Next day, mild cramps, then heavier cramps, then heavy bleeding. Bright red accompanied by heavy cramping. Assumed not pregnant. Continued to bleed and cramp Monday and Monday night had cold sweats and felt “off”. Did another hpt on Tuesday morning and saw a faint faint faint line, so faint my husband swore he couldn’t see it. Tuesday afternoon felt my breasts were a bit tender, and felt more “off”, and so I did another hpt. This time it was still faint but a work colleague agreed it looked like a faint positive. I did a digital one at the same time and it was a clear not pregnant. With all the heavy bleeding and cramping which was still continuing, I decided to visit the ER to find out once and for all if it was another chemical. So Tuesday afternoon, my hcg levels were 13. Doctor told me it was too low for my dates and I was having a miscarriage and to go home and let it happen naturally. So home I went still bleeding heavily (one pad every 2-3 hours), and told hubby I needed to let it pass naturally.
I have continued bleeding heavily (one pad every 4 hours), cramps are less intense but today is Thursday and my breasts definitely feel fuller, still feel “off” and so I decided to another hpt. The line came up instantly almost as dark as the control line! The digit one says pregnant 1-2 weeks. Im so confused! I feel pregnant but how can something survive after so much bleeding?
I am having more bloods done tomorrow under the care of my private doctor. But my question is, has anyone else ever experienced this and gone on to have a healthy full term baby? I can only find horror stories so far and would love to hear from those with a positive outcome. I’m feeling worried, anxious, excited and scared all at the same time....

Could it be that I ovulated late and so my hormone levels weren’t strong enough to tell my AF to stop? Its not implantation bleeding, it is way too heavy and been going on for 3.5 days now.! No sign of letting up but pregnancy symptoms getting stronger..
Thanks everyone. I will be sure to update the post as it happens...

UPDATE:

OMG!! Now Im even more confused! HCG levels are in and they have risen from 13 on Tuesday night, to only 34 Friday morning! Doctor said given that US looked clear (no implantation or sac) that I have miscarried.... repeat bloods are scheduled now for Monday.

How can I miscarry, but levels rise....? also is 34 too a low a number to be viable at 4 weeks, 4 days..... (dated from LMP) ???

Id really appreciate any comments.. thanks all.

I had enough bleeding for a full miscarriage and passed something that looked like an 8 week fetus. At the time I was in the ER, having presented with all the bleeding, I was told that my HCG was off the scale. I went on to have a lovely baby girl, so apparently I started out with twins and lost one but not the other.

That kind of thing might be possible in your case, but either which way I hope it all gets better for you.

UPDATE::,

1st Feb (Friday)- So I just came back from the doctor. She told me it sounds like a miscarriage but was baffled by my recent positive tests and was not willing to rule anything out just yet. She did a physical examination. Said my cervix was closed and it looks like I am having a normal period, - no evidence of miscarriage yet.,

More bloods taken and I will have my new HCG levels tomorrow...... fingers crossed they are rising.

In the mean time, she is sending me for an ultrasound which is booked in for this afternoon at 3.00pm.

Still so confused.

UPDATE:
Thank you ladies for the encouraging stories....

Well, the ultrasound yesterday offered no insight what so ever. She couldn't see anything, apart from what looked liked a normal period. Although, she did say it was too early to see anything at 4.5 weeks before she even looked, and then was so quick I am doubtful she even bothered to try. ??

I get the results of my bloods this afternoon so it will tell me once and for all whether I am still pregnant or not....(whether my hcg levels have dropped or are rising...)

I am still bleeding though, a lighter flow this past 24 hours- but it is day 6 of continuous bleeding!!! Cramps seem to have stopped. Its a lot lighter as of yesterday (much like my normal period) so I'm none the wiser..... Its such an emotional roller coaster.....

Will update soon and hopefully this might help others in the same situation. Has anyone else had any experiences as mine? Im really scared if I am still pregnant there may be something wrong, and couldn't stand the thought of the next 9 months being on egg shells..... thanks : )

Its not that uncommon to have bleeding during the whole pregancy, especially if one twin is lost (and thats common enough in itself as well),

Fingers crossed your still pregnant, the bleeding eases if not stop soon and you start to feel better.

My daughter just made me a grandmother before xmas. She had a very bad pregnancy and was sick most of the time. While I sort of got it, I had fairly easy pregnancies with all 3 of my children and had had to push through on the bad days, so found it difficult to understand why she couldn't do more. She's better now and a great little mum, and I'm loving the whole grandma thing.
