Why do I need to pay my ex money for support? How is THIS money tracked???
For some reason, the judge that we went in front of went and gave residential custody to my ex. I am so scared that even if I gave him the money, it will go to alcohol. I am very afraid one day that I will get a call stating, my child has been in a car accident due to his father's lack of sobriety. He is an alcoholic.

Excuse me? He has residential custody. You pay child support. I imagine if YOU had residential custody, you would expect him to pay child support. It goes both ways. Why shouldn't mothers have to pay?

If you are so concerned about his issues with alcohol, gather evidence, get a lawyer and argue it out in court. In the meantime, it isn't up to you to decide whether to pay or not, nor to dictate how he must spend it. He is clearly putting a roof over your child's head, feeding the child, buying things for the child - she is not neglected. So he IS paying things to support her. It's your responsibility to contribute to this. If your child is being neglected or in danger, then do something about it.
